What is Renewable Energy?
With fuel prices on the continuous rise and with the unending political unrest in Middle Eastern countries, which are the main sources of fuel, it is time to tap into alternative sources of energy, like renewable energy.
Renewable energy is energy coming from natural resources which can be naturally replenished, like earth (geothermal), water (hydro), sunlight (solar), wind, and plants and animals (biofuel and biomass).
There may be varied sources of renewable energy, but it all boils down to one powerful mass – the sun. Wind, water, the plants and the animals, and the earth, all these wouldn’t exist if not for the sun. In fact, if not for the sun, the rest of the major electricity sources we have today wouldn’t exist.
Renewable energy sources are almost “infinite”. However, with the way things are going – uncontrolled human consumption, electricity driven lifestyles and livelihood, irresponsible waste management, and more – if energy was to become scarce, people would have extreme difficulty in coping.
So while electrical energy is still present and abundant, it should not be wasted. Proper and responsible energy usage must be observed religiously and implemented. Consumers should be smarter when buying electrical tools and appliances. Choose energy-saving light bulbs over incandescent ones. Buy quality yet sustainable products. Always go for greener or environment-friendly alternatives. Learn how to co-exist with nature and all God-given resources. Man should act one with nature, not as if he owns it.
